The Austrian philosopher Prof. Dr. Armen Avanessian and the archaeologist Andrea Schaer discuss what we want to and will remember in the future, on the example of Baden's past and present.

Armen Avanessian studied philosophy and political science in Vienna and Paris, and literature in Bielefeld. He was a Visiting Fellow at the German Department of Columbia University, and in 2012 a Visiting Fellow at the German Department of Yale University. In recent years, he has held several guest professorships and lectureships at various art academies, including in Nuremberg, Vienna, Basel, Copenhagen, Paris and California (CalArts), and most recently in Hamburg at the HfBK. Since 2021 he has been Professor of Media Theory at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen. He is editor-at-large at MERVE Verlag and ran the weekly theory series 'Armen Avanessian & Enemies' at the Volksbühne Berlin for several years. His books have been translated into numerous languages.

Andrea Schaer is an archaeologist, cultural historian and author. She studied Prehistory and Early History, Geography and Archaeology of the Roman Provinces at the University of Bern. From 2001 to 2019, she worked in various functions for the archaeological departments of the cantons of Jura, Aargau and Bern. Since 2006, she has been in charge of the archaeological investigations and cultural history research in connection with the redevelopment of the historic baths in Baden.

The Schwitzbäder (sweating baths) are conversations in thermal water. The discourse program takes place in cooperation with the Bagni Popolari Association in the historic baths in the Bad zum Raben.
